Hi, I have just bought this fine notebook, which includes a softmodem. Attached is the ModemData.txt I got from scanModem. I am using alsa-1.0.14rc2, under Kubuntu 6.10 with ubuntunized kernel 2.6.20. After upgrading alsa I got the right entries in /proc/asound, so I ran > root@dinovo:/home/pdinoto/slmodem/SLMODEMD.gcc4# ./slmodemd -c ARGENTINA > --alsa hw:0,6 SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Mar 13 2006 18:27:33 > symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/6' created. > modem `hw:0,6' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/6' > Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination. and can give AT commands. When trying to dial I get > error: cannot setup hw params for playback: Invalid argument and the NO CARRIER error of course. Since I compiled alsa with debugging, I see > [ 1572.289000] ALSA .../alsa-driver-1.0.14rc2/pci/hda/../../alsa-kernel/ > pci/hda/hda_intel.c:1153: hda-intel: invalid format_val, rate=9600, ch=1, > format=2 > [ 1827.758000] ALSA .../alsa-driver-1.0.14rc2/pci/hda/hda_codec.c:627: > hda_codec_setup_stream: NID=0x1, stream=0x0, channel=0, format=0x0 Any ideas? I will appreciate any help. I am willing to help debugging this issue. Regards, ///Pablo
