Hi Marvin,
Sorry for this long delay in between mails

A few queries
First the SGS Thomson Microelectonics is the finger print reader so this
is not a modem (silly but asking anyway)

Second the serial-to-usb modem is :
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial
Port

So are the instructions given for this

*or*
Are you saying that the winmodem aboard the laptop is compatible and i
have to download the packages in
> http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/hsfhda/
> and also read Smartlink.txt and use The
> hsfmodem-7.47.00.03ful_patched.tar.gz

and if i follow the instructions my winmodem should work.

seeking your kind clarification

thanks
and regards
ram
