Joern,

Thanks
But the problem is that Lajos must use ALSA version 1.014rc2
in the current struggle to obtain functionality of HDA hosted softmodem chip:
Vendor Id: 0x11c11040
hosted by
1002:437b Audio device: ATI Technologies IncSB450 HDA Audio

Lajos has tried all the earlier ALSA versions and 1.014rc2 is the
first which generates a /proc/asound with some promise of modem
functionality.

We have several outstanding 0x11c11040 and no successes as yet.
So your help would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding at the C code level is essentially nil.

Hi Lajos,

I had the same problem with modem, when upgrading tothe latest and
greatest release of ALSA. The problem does not occure with
alsa-driver-1.0.12!

Go to ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/ and download the
alsa-driver-1.0.12.tar.bz2 package and the corresponding libs from
ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/lib.

The Problem has nothing to do with your LINUX distro. It comes from the
way, how slmodemd tries to set up the modem.
