Hello Everyone,

My Name is Omkar Acharekar. I am excited to share with you that I will be working this next months on "Implement Qt/KDE Frameworks theming using native Qt widgets (Weld interface)" project as part of the Outreachy internship, under mentorship of Michael Weghorn and Heiko Tietze.

The project aim is to refine the UI of Qt/KDE Frameworks by making use of native Qt widgets through the Weld interface. Currently, the Qt-based VCL plugins just implement the drawing of QStyle-themed LibreOffice VCL widgets. These mostly look like Qt widgets, but their behavior is  controlled by LibreOffice. This results in behaviour that differs from applications implemented using native Qt widgets, including bugs. From 2018, a new theming API ( Weld API ) has been created. Implementing the needed interfaces in WELD API for the Qt-based VCL plugins by using native Qt widgets for the UI is the main task of the Outreachy project.

     Bugzilla issue : https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130857

I'm truly thankful for this opportunity and look forward to collaborating with mentors and all of you. Also throughout this internship, I'll be sharing my weekly progress through a mailing list. If you have any suggestions / insights related to the project, please let me know. You can find me on IRC with the name Omkar67

Best Regards
Omkar
