* Present:
    + in-person meeting in Milan
    + Miklos, Mike Sa., Xisco, Tomaž, Eyal, Caolán, Heiko, Olivier, Jean-Pierre,
      Uwe, Armin, Koji, Ilmari, Kendy, Luboš, Shinji, Juan, Michael S., Dennis,
      Leif-Joren, Gabriel, Zdeněk, László, Arnaud, Hossein, Raal

* Questions from the audience
  + How do you decide what gets into the agenda?

      + ESC calls are open, you can add items to the pad + join the jitsi call (Cloph)

      + Xisco brought the macOS/firebird/app store problem to the ESC to have a decision on it

    + As somebody who does QA work, it never accured to him to take some problem to the ESC

      + what is the criteria to raise it in this call?

      + many parts of the project has their own meetings, there is no fixed rule (Cloph)

      + ESC has a qa section (Kendy)

        + high severity issues + most pressing problems discussed there

        + "which bugs to discuss" is a defined criteria

        + agenda has these prepared

      + buzilla is the right place to discuss issues (Xisco)

        + a small subset will be discussed in the ESC call

    + What discussions need a decision from the ESC?

      + usually we just do changes to master if it's not a large-scale change (Cloph)

      + then bugfixes get backported to release branches

        + when do you create release branches?

        + LibreOffice has a time-based release schedule (Kendy)

        + Cloph creates release shedules well ahead of time, 2 major releases each year

        + so allows people to get their feature in time into master

          + if an exception is needed: late feature way, if we know the feature will be late by e.g. 1-2 weeks

          + it's always an option to make a feature experimental on the release branch, to help users who would use the feature by accident

* Completed Action Items:
    + None

* Pending Action Items:
    + Enable firebird as non-experimental for macOS app store builds (Cloph)
      + pondered if it is worth doing, but otherwise would have no options at all
      + not needed for the address book / mail merge functionality
      + Base is just not used for many users

* Release Engineering update (Cloph)
    + 7.4 status: 7.4.2 rc2 in 1 week
    + 7.3 status: 7.3.7 rc1 in 2 weeks
      + last planned 7.3.x release
    + Appstores
      + Windows: still waiting for confirmation wrt system-wide install of fonts
      + macOS is published
