I too am on SuSE. One IP is my LAN IP but the SuSE box is the DHCP 
server itself. But many of my friend have seen this on their RedHat 
servers.
169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0  scope link

Their machines had only 1 network card and had fixed IPs.

What is the solution to this?
