Ipchains does not work anymore with 2.4.x kernels, you have to install "iptables"
instead.
It's linked to the switch to netfilters in the kernel. I saw in the first release
of 2.4.x kernels a
compatibility modules which seems to have been removed in 2.4.6. So the best
things to do
is to switch to iptables.
