In fact speed does not matter here but it is not very readable.
Use of "?" was justified if you put this inside the call to vring_create_virtqueue
(which I still feel would be best).
But if you use a variable, just use plain if:

	if (__virtio_test_bit(vdev,VIRTIO_F_NOTIFICATION_DATA))
			vq = vm_notify_with_data;
	else
			vq = vm_notify;
