If you are operating a custom hypervisor environment there is security and maintenance value in minimizing the kernel code enabled. So eg needing iommufd turned on to run qemu and vfio but also needing vfio container & group turned on to run dpdk as part of the OVS is not desirable compared to just updating dpdk. Jason
