KSC Release No. 59-02

NOTE TO EDITORS:
With all that's happening at the Kennedy Space Center, media coverage needn't be limited to launches and landings. Here are some ideas we'd like to share with you for stories on business and technology in our Spaceport Technology Center that are of interest to the general public.

*	The restructuring of the NASA workforce, which has enabled KSC to evolve as a Spaceport Technology Center.
*	Strategies that led KSC to becoming the NASA Center with the most Space Act Awards for technology spin-offs during the past two years.
*	Modern project management techniques that are employed by NASA and contractors to make the most efficient, effective use of tax dollars.
*	How partnering with the State has allowed financing for new projects at the Visitor Complex, ELV launch pads, SERPL, etc.
*	What economic effect the International Space Research Park could have on Florida and how it will strengthen the contributions of the space program by drawing more academic and commercial organizations to KSC.
*	The early successes of the much-praised Cape Canaveral Spaceport Planning and Customer Service Center.
*	Cost savings provided by Shuttle and payload processing technology upgrades and a capital investment wish list for other cost-saving upgrades. Why such spaceport technology cost savings are important in getting the price of launch down to make it more commercially viable.
