i'm running 11.3 with KDE
4.4.95 and just found out that, if i try to change _any_ of the desktop
effects settings, plasma freezes over completely so that i have to drop to a
terminal (alt+ctrl+F1) to reboot the machine.
this did not happen with oS
11.2, but there are two things to consider:
1. i'm using a lousy video
card: in-built intel 945G;
2. i've got GNOME installe this time, which i
didn't use earlier.
i found that even though running KDE4, GNOME started
its tracker-store app, without asking or anything. i had to uninstall it to
get rid of it. perhaps compiz is running, creating trouble with KWIN
effects?
i'll remove compiz after a wile and try again; right now i don't
have the time, though.
