If you tried the same thing on PhoeNUX OS (the distro I work on), you'd end up with a similar case, as I used some Perl scripting in the initscripts.... I agree with Pavel here, since I've almost always patched out internal dependencies in packages that I ship, since it's less hassle in the long term for me as a package maintainer to tie my packages to the recent versions in my tree. -- Gary L.
