another example would be xmms - as opposed to let's say kde itself or 
gimp or others who can constantly evolve to the latest trends and 
technologies. Xmms imho is finished it plays mp3 and it does it very 
good - any new features would be more like a source of bugs and 
annoyance - like winamp5 is. For big stuff we have jukebox software 
like amarok.
