Just curious, but what was the "sound issue"? I myself battled for quite some time, not KDE but ALSA, however this was after the upgrade.
KDE Sound notifications. I tried some of the fixes prescribed on the lists, but what worked for me was to put a knotify.desktop in autostart with kdeinit knotify in it. getit? :-P
