From reading the debian-user mailing list I've concluded that the problem doesn't seem to be hardware related. People with different chipsets, motherboards and graphic cards were experiencing the problem. I believe it to be a library problem or a KDE/Qt bug which is why I asked if non-Debian people were also having the problem. I everyone is seeing this then its probably a bug, if only debian sid users are experiencing the problem then its probably a library (compatibility or compile time configuration) issue.
