O, Lord, why my main KDE menu is so wide? It's wide at least 1/4 from screen size! Any text line can be placed at least 3 times!
This a bug. I am told that it is caused by Qt-3.3.0. However, it also depends on the font which you use.
I am using KDE-3.2.1+ (the Branch), Qt-3.3.1 and Arial MT (the font which comes with the current version of Adobe Acrobat for Windows) and it works fine. It also works fine with other fonts.
I would specifically advise against using a bit mapped font with KDE
