i have 2 computers, one i have just rebuilt.
not liking what rh has done in 8, i compile kde from source.
i did things in the following order:
qt, arts, libs, base, network, then the rest in no particular order.
to get rid of redhat's x scripts, i installed xfree 4.3.0 from www.xfree.org.
until i installed the rest of kde, my dialup worked fine. now that i have compilled the rest of kde, my dialup connects, but i cant go anywhere or download mail.
was wondering what was happening here?
any help would be appreciated.
You probably don't have the DNS configured correctly.
If your ISP supports automatic (I think -- that is what I have and it works) you can check: "Automatic" in the: "DNS" tab in the KPPP set up widget. Otherwise, you need to check: "Manual" and enter two NUMERICAL DNS addresses for you ISP.
If you are using automatic, your: "/etc/resolv.conf" file should probably be empty -- KPPP will add stuff to the file when it is running.
