Upcoming Educator Conference

We've extended the registration deadline to Monday, February 26!

There is still plenty of space available.   Students are welcome to attend; students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Climate Change Educator Conference - March 3 - 4, 2007
NASA's Contribution to Earth System Science
Climate change has become a hot scientific topic. The behavior of Earth's ecosystem has a tremendous impact on life over both large and short time scales.

Educators and museum staff are invited to attend an educator conference sponsored by the JPL Education Office and the Earth Science & Technology Directorate on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4. The conference will be held at JPL in Pasadena, Calif. Presenters will include scientists, engineers and JPL educators.

The conference will examine the data collection methods and results that NASA has been able to contribute to the discussion. While it will not be a comprehensive look at all space missions and instruments, it will examine what scientists have learned about the components of Earth's ecosystem (atmosphere, oceans, land, ice) and the ecosystem's integration and interdependency. Participants will gain a better understanding of how the data that informs the climate debate is gathered and some of the recent results. There will also be some discussion of past climate variations and their impacts on human society.

The conference will provide examples and information on NASA earth system science resources and an introduction to the upcoming International Polar Year.

Pre-registration is required; it will not be possible to register at the door. The conference will run 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. on Saturday and 8:00 A.M. to noon on Sunday. High school students and above may attend. Students must register and youths under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the conference.
