Yes, just a left-over from a previous version of the patch limiting the
number of times a tunnel detection was retried after a failure. It can
be simplified, thanks for spotting it.

Yes, an old tunnel used in a pervious modeset could be dropped after a
sink is re-plugged, in which case the newly detected - inherited -
