One can always derive the others.

Option 1:
foo(crtc_state)
{
	crtc = crtc_state->crtc;
	state = crtc_state->state;
	...
}

Option 2:
foo(state, crtc)
{
	crtc_state = get_crtc_state(state, crtc);
	...
}

IMO life is more pleasant when you don't have to think about
every function needing to be passed a different set of redundant
information.
