As far as I understand, upgrade introduces a solution based on mboxlist database rebuilding. Not so easy with users in timezones from NJ to Kazakhstan but possible.
Fortunately, subscriptions databases are plaintext.
Yes, we really have many maibox names with spaces, dashes, etc as mentioned in referred bugreport.
