Re: Outlook vs. Cyrus

Have others found similar issues regarding outlook + cyrus (or any other imap server)?

Most of my Outlook issues aren't IMAP-specific, but sometimes Outlook:

- re-downloads entire folders repeatedly.  This was 10s of GB of data per day.  Eventually we fixed this by emptying the user's Trash folder.  I have no idea why this worked. - re-downloads shared folder messages repeatedly.  This was a particularly annoying issue where Outlook would scan a shared folder that it *wasn't* even subscribed to, identify a particular message as spam, and copy it to the spam folder repeatedly - every few minutes.  The user ended up with thousands of copies of the same message in their spam folder.  The folder was read-only for the user.  Fortunately I could tell the Outlook spam filter to ignore messages with the given from address.

Have you found some tweaks that could improve how outlook and cyrus cooperate?

For Outlook users, it's probably worthwhile telling the Trash folder to expire messages after 20 or 50 days or something to avoid the Trash folder issue.

We have the standard Outlook OST and PST file corruption issues too.  New users are required to use Thunderbird (or anything that isn't Outlook really) for this reason and others (GPG, multiple identities, etc.)
