Anyone here running recent/current versions on OpenBSD?

As far as I know, OpenBSD uses the same pkgsrc as NetBSD...

FreeBSD?

Definitely. Unless your hardware is not supported by FreeBSD, this is the BSD to use... In particular, there are ports of several different Cyrus-versions, including mail/cyrus-imapd34. (The ports system is what pkgsrc derives from, by the way.)

Or should I just bit the bullet and use CentOS or some other stable-ish Linux version?

Yikes!
