Hi I am not using Legato backup client. What I have is only a copy of the user /mail/imap/spool/user/sam directory.
eg.
# ls -l
total 52
drwx------ 2 root wheel 512 Aug 1 17:24 Drafts
drwx------ 2 root wheel 512 Aug 1 17:24 Sent Items
drwx------ 2 root wheel 512 Aug 1 17:24 Trash
-rw------- 1 root wheel 4 Aug 1 17:24 cyrus.cache
-rw------- 1 root wheel 179 Aug 1 17:24 cyrus.header
-rw------- 1 root wheel 76 Aug 1 17:24 cyrus.index
-rw------- 1 root wheel 39983 Aug 1 17:24 cyrus.squat

Can I just copy the older fodlers/files from the backup server to the production mail server and execute steps 12 and 13 as you mentioned below?

I found that reconstruct didn't work quite right unless I only had the message files and the cyrus.header file (don't copy over the other cyrus.xxx files).

Don't forget to set the unix ownership and permissions to whatever your cyrus user is.

Hi, I found the cyrus.header file, but which message files?

Those are the 1., 2., 3., etc files.

I m not too sure what these files are.
Here is the content of the directory:

# tar -zpcvf sam.tgz *
a 230.
a Drafts
a Drafts/cyrus.header
a Drafts/cyrus.cache
a Drafts/cyrus.index
a Drafts/cyrus.squat
a Sent Items
a Sent Items/cyrus.cache
a Sent Items/1.
a Sent Items/cyrus.squat
a Sent Items/2.
a Sent Items/cyrus.header
a Sent Items/cyrus.index
a Sent Items/3.
a Sent Items/4.
a Sent Items/5.
a Sent Items/6.
a Sent Items/7.
a Sent Items/10.
a Sent Items/11.
a Sent Items/12.
a Sent Items/13.
a Sent Items/8.
a Sent Items/9.
a Sent Items/14.
a Trash
a Trash/cyrus.cache
a Trash/cyrus.squat
a Trash/28.
a Trash/29.
a Trash/30.
a Trash/31.
a Trash/32.
a Trash/33.
a Trash/34.
a Trash/cyrus.header
a Trash/cyrus.index
a backup
a cyrus.cache
a cyrus.header
a cyrus.index
a cyrus.squat

I fond some 1,2,3... files here, but they don't belong to the Received or Inbox folders (there is no such folders here in the backup directory).

Thanks
Sam
