Maybe a better argument is that 4 members of the ISOC board are appointed by the IETF. (https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/)A public web page (n.b. not a "discussion") detailing the bidding process seems like something the IETF might reasonably expect from its board members.
It's important to note that while different groups make appointments to the Board, Internet Society Trustees do not represent specific constituencies after elections. Each Trustees serves the organization as a whole. Whatever expectations you have of the board, you should have them of all of them, not simply those appointed by the IETF.
I do note that Gonzalo, Richard, and Mike have each written about the sale:

In general, https://www.keypointsabout.org/ appears to be the web site you are looking for, as it describes the board and supporters position.
