There has been extensive discussion of the criteria to use for selecting meeting venues on the mtgvenue mailing list. Please see https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=mtgvenu . In draft-ietf-mtgvenue-iaoc-venuee -selection-process there is specific criteria about economic, health, and safety risks. If you have comments about it please direct those to the mtgvenue list. The draft will be in IETF last call again soon.

The company travel policies are usually set to reflect what the local foreign office equivalent says.
Example for UK: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/egypt
Based on the run-down in that page the reaction of a UK company would be that a conference there is a no-go territory and it may not be covered by the company travel insurance.
Other companies/countries operate in a similar manner.

There is no reason to be on the warning list, now everything is stable, but does this means that people cannot travel to Egypt or it is just a warning?
