Re: Proposal to revise ISOC's mission statement

Very simple, unless is demonstrated that the country government and the courts are under the same power, which is not the case for Spain. Split power is a basic principle of democracy.

ISOC MUST respect court orders as all the citizens do, otherwise we will have no democracy, but chaos.

ISOC is doing false accusations. They have said “major telecom operators have been asked to monitor and block traffic to political websites, and following a court order, law enforcement has raided the offices of the .CAT registry in Barcelona, examining a computer and arresting staff.”

Only one person was arrested, because he was suspicions as cooperator or an unlawful act. Nobody asked operators to “monitor”. I’ve copy of the court order, and I can show you in Singapore if you want.

ISOC was warned also by other Spanish chapters that this is not true, and they didn’t correct it.

Regards,
Jordi
