I just wanted them to do _something_ :-)

That said, having IETF not agreeing on service discovery makes it hard.

The lack of connection between DNS "things" and HTTP "things" is clearly visible.

Ability to accept new Resource Record Types for example.

To me two things are clearly a failure of IETF, from my perspective. Other people have other favorites:

- The overload of TXT records instead of new RR Types.

- The inability to agree on how to use SRV/URI/whatever in HTTP/2.

Both can be fixed, although I am pessimistic.
