The idea that the ISOC Board could appoint someone other than the ISOC President is not new. See [1]. During the discussion in 2011, it was also suggested that the ISOC President might want the flexibility to appoint a direct report.   The IAOC often gets advice from the ISOC CFO, so this would not be an unreasonable choice.
