What I heard, to be clear, was primarily a call to action, of mostly rhetorical (in the formal sense, look it up) effect.  There’s nothing whatsoever wrong with that.  Few useful human actions are accomplished without some rhetoric to get things moving.  That includes engineering actions.

Also, a very useful _expression_ of a sentiment that might be expressed as “more encryption is good, let’s not let the perfect be the enemy of the good”, and another that said “there’s going to be a lot of controversy around end-to-end issues”.

I’m disappointed by this nitpicking over what I found a rather inspiring moment.

i took it as the consensus of the *room*, and it would be taken to the
lists to be nibbled to death by ducks.
