Exactly. And this FAQ is, presumably, for people who do not already
understand the issues.
Hence the request for more precision in specifying contextual
constraints.
So the Sherman act in the US prevents any corporate entity from
monopolizing the power of the US Government. Since the power of the IETF
is tied to the ISOC and the ICANN/IANA operating practices which the
IETF is the source of controls - the sole source of controls for... this
is an issue. The NTIA MOU is the hanger so to speak...
Which means that the use of the IETF - an arguably Government Sponsored
entity - since there are many Governments including the US with
representatives in the IETF, this clearly becomes an antitrust issue
with regard to the Sherman Act.
