I was also going to mention that. There's a lot of different formats for zone
file data, with BIND-ish master files being only one of them.
DNS master files are specified in RFC 1035 so it's wrong to imply they are
implementation-specific.
They're not implementation specific, but they're also not required to
interoperate, as the wire format queries and responses are.
