Sounds interesting.

Do you by any chance have a source where this "trivial" information is
available?

All I have managed to get across are ways to generate a TOC in the end of
the document, that you have to move manually. When doing that move, your
page numbering and formatting may change.

Anyway, the trick/attempt here is to generate a TOC within a WYSIWYG editor
for instant view without ever touching a command line tool, and not having
to index all your titles with macros, but simply through letting the tool
analyze the typical Nroff I-D.
