Somehow, OpenOffice managed to understand the formfeed character.

On the Mac you can still use lpr <file> but unfortunately the formfeeds get lost when you do that. Pages also doesn't recognize them. But Textedit does if you use format -> wrap to page. However, the lines probably don't fit anymore after that, fix this by making the document rich text and selecting a 10 point fixed width font.
