Joe,

I've also been told by a couple of airlines that, if your bag
gets lost and ends up sitting in a "figure out who this belongs
to and how to get it there" area, those brightly-colored tags
get the first attention.  I cannot verify this from experience:
after some lost luggage incidents lately, if the "priority" tags
get higher priority treatment, I hate to think about what the
rest of the bags are getting.
