FYI, if you stay at least seven nights, the Marriott web site is offering rates somewhat lower than the conference rate, even lower if
you're a member of their Bonvoy program which you can join moments before you book. You can cancel for free up to the day before arrival.
If you're planning to stay less than seven nights the conference rate is still better than the web site rate.

I've occasionally seen hotels undercut our negotiated rate but not often by this much, and never with a much more favorable cancellation
policy.
