Hi.

Isn't this procedure a bit off?

It's right there, as John says:
https://www.ietf.org/forms/side-meetings/

"Side meetings do not record formal attendance ("blue sheets"). The organizers of side meetings may ask for participants' contact information; participants are free to withhold it.
Organizers must seek participants' active consent for any side meeting that is desired to be recorded."

It does say that

"Public side meetings are open for any registered IETF meeting participant to attend. Remote side meeting attendees must also be registered for the meeting."

So, is everyone there registered? Definitely not, I've seen people write "Snoop Dogg" and things like that.

Why is there a need for a new rule, and why isn't a BCP?

thanks,
Rob
