Then what should be put into the status field for those documents? We're clear that it's status should not longer say "Internet Standard". If not Historic, then what should it say? We make up a new status of "Former Internet Standard"? We have a documented name (Historic) for the status and a mechanism to make it happen.

Again, what's the downside?
