Rob (and Tim), As I mentioned in an offlist note to Tim, there are ways to rewrite the sentence to eliminate starting with a lower-case letter. With his suggest, mine, and yours, we are now up to at least three possibilities. While all three eliminate the somewhat-glaring "sentence starting in lower-case letter", none of them "fix" (quotes deliberate) problem of a name/title not being in upper case, which is a different sort of problem. One could attack that problem by saying (borrowing from both your suggestion below and Tim's, "The contributor 'chetti' provided an analysis..." but that could be taken as insulting, i.e., that they are not a real person but some sort of unusual term or alias -- far different from the "someone claiming to be Joe Smith" sort of structure that John Levine and a few others seem to use, especially since that latter can reasonably be taken as a comment on email sender authentication technology rather than as about Joe. I think we have now descended far enough into editorial style matters that we should stop cluttering the Last Call and EMAILCORE lists and hand this off to the RPC. I will add it to my notes about things to be brought to their attention. I'm also trying to get a consolidated draft ready so the WG can consider outstanding issues when we meet during IETF and, however well-intentioned, beating issues like this to death (quite different from Tim's initially identifying it) is an effective DoS attack on that effort. best, john --On Friday, October 25, 2024 14:05 -0700 Rob Sayre <sayrer@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Maybe > > "The contributor chetti provided an analysis that clarified the ABNF > productions that implicitly reference other documents." > > If one really wants to "fix" it.
