Dear Fernando.

"This is my opinion and hopefully subject to debate."

Yes, i hope it also. And i am very thankful for your answer. For me, the core of this telecommunication system, what we called Internet, is not the telecommunication. It is the money flow.

If we follow the demands of telecommunication, we come directly to the "original one" how you say. I agree.

I know, the basic question is not the theoretical solution for the construction principles of an real InterNet. It is more the realisation of the technical components to realisize the inter-connections.

2016 in our last discussion to this theme Bill Smith wrote in his last email, that he hope, that i will find a way to realize it in any region. But, so far I have not been successful.

To me it makes no sense to talk about the symptoms of this degenerated system without naming the underlying conditions that lead to this disaster.

The other area is the definition of the address and the transformation of the address from textual form to numerical form and back. But this makes sense only if the structure of the construction of the connections is clear.

with thanks and kind regards, willi

Dear Willi,

The definition of "Internet" you mention is the original one but I think it
does not reflect the present infrastructure. It is probably more realistic
to view it as a mesh of interconnected routing centres with a predominance
of networking devices rather than computer networks.
This infrastructure is mainly hierarchical, having major infrastructure
elements such as intercontinental fiber optic links and major
communication providers at the top of the hierarchy and ISP as the next
links down the chain, all the way to the end users where the real
processing takes place.
All this has to be funded, and money most likely flows upwards, and from
some endpoints it does not flow at all. This is the challenge of keeping
the Internet alive, how to fund it and at the same time maintain it
universally available.
This is my opinion and hopefully subject to debate.

Best regards,
Fernando
