Thank for asking the question. One of the reasons for an organization to choose a standard is that there is a SDO which will continue to maintain the standard. There are potential issues if the SDO will no longer maintain its standard, e.g. the organization does not have change control to take over maintenance of the standard.

There is probably a community out there which relies on some of the standards which are listed as Proposed or Internet Standards, as you mentioned above. It would be good to consider whether that community should take over if the IETF is no longer interested in maintaining that standard.
