I’m not going to use a new scheme that has not had extensive review.

 

1) I provided the scheme to counteract your claim that redoing things would take weeks.

2) This scheme is pretty straight forward and an evaluation would take a few minutes.

3) If not this scheme, then perhaps a public source of random numbers such as https://avkg.com/en/daily-random/archive/2022/8/list.html#day16 - that would be a one day delay, not a week.

4) As was pointed out to me, you as the chair may use any method you want as long as it is verifiably fair and transparent, and as long as you announce it in advance of whatever you do.

5) I expect we won't be making any changes at this point - but the arguments for not doing so are weaker than you think.
