Personal view (no LLC hat) - I think that one's lodging preferences and the price one can afford varies greatly. It seems like the IETF does a fine job providing an official hotel to make it easy for many attendees - and some people will want to stay elsewhere. As well, the IETF is not really a travel agency and there are countless websites/apps to find a wide range of lodging, including at prices under USD $100/night. As a local to Philadelphia, I am happy to provide feedback on any alternative sections of the city. :-) Jason
