For the record, I was never an AD (before becoming General AD in 2005)
but I had served for far too long in the IAB (1994-2002)**. So, a 3 year
gap between the two. Which I for one was very happy with.

I also served as a WG Chair while in the IAB, which was a feature
not a bug IMHO. Of course, if an appeal related to that WG had come to
the IAB, I would have needed to recuse myself.
