Nothing requires anyone to use Git or GitHub.

On the other hand, many (millions) of people do, people who often write open source code, and we want to engage with that community. As seems common for the IETF, it's up to the WG to decide.

Really, we engaged with the open source community by starting using GitHub?

What I saw is the opposite:  Open source developers were already working with the IETF, and some of them shoved GitHub down our throats.  This is not the IETF trying to be inclusive, this is developers trying to tell us how to do our job.

And yes, I am a coder and git and vim is where I spend most of my professional time.
