The IBM 1403 printer (1200 lines per minute, print chain and hammers) could be
induced to do that fairly easily by specifying the right CCW (no, you
couldn't do with with a Fortran-style column-1-char trick).  You would
however get extra points for figuring out how to get HASP to put the CCW
into the spool file.  It was pretty trivial under VM/CMS however....

The IBM 3800 (20K lpm laser printer) - now if you managed to get THAT beast
to open its lid, that was impressive.
