thinkpad_acpi doesn't load after alsa update, thinkfan

Hi there!

hopefully I'm posting this into right forum.

I bought RME babyface USB audio interface recently. In order to make it work with UbunItu I had to patch ALSA driver bug (see for example here: http://www.mail-archive.com/alsa-user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/msg28945.html )

Now, after compiling ALSA ( as per these instructions: http://alsa.opensrc.org/Quick_Install ) the thinkpad_acpi won't load and my computer overheats since thinkfan is not working.

> modprobe thinkpad_acpi
FATAL: Error inserting thinkpad_acpi (/lib/modules/3.5.0-24-lowlatency/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/thinkpad_acpi.ko): Invalid argument

Here is dmesg:

[ 2745.278752] thinkpad_acpi: disagrees about version of symbol snd_ctl_add
[ 2745.278755] thinkpad_acpi: Unknown symbol snd_ctl_add (err -22)

[ 2745.278886] thinkpad_acpi: Unknown symbol snd_card_create (err -22)

I tried to search with the issue and similar thing had happened people back in 2010. A fix by some was to compile thinkpad_acpi with ALSA or something like that, I really couldn't understand what they were talking about... :)

Any tips how to make thinkpad_acpi work with recompiled ALSA driver? Or how to compile the ALSA driver so that it works with the thinkpad_acpi?

Thinkfan seemed to work fine before I compiled the ALSA driver. I guess sometime in the future the ALSA driver is fixed and no need to recompile it.

I've got Thinkpad x220, Ubuntu (studio) 12.10,  Kernel is 3.5.0-24-lowlatency. Had same problem with 3.5.0-22 and 3.5.0-23 kernels as well.

Regards,
Teemu
