When insmod thinkpad_ec, dmesg says: > > thinkpad_ec: no ThinkPad embedded controller Yeah, they're not prepared to work with the ?420 firmware, and last time someone tried, the EC did misbehave for thinkpad_ec/hdaps. My guess is that either there's a new EC, or they moved its ports elsewhere. Please send me the full dmidecode output for your T420, but do cross-out all serial numbers and UUIDs. Thinkpad-acpi I can try to give you a test patch to see how well it will behave. thinkpad-ec, OTOH, is _dangerous_ and something best left to someone who has experience with this stuff. Just for kicks, give me the full output of /proc/ioports and /proc/iomen. Maybe I can find the LPC3 EC ports in there, but even if I do, you will have to mess with them at your own risk. If someone wants to do a new *clean room* reverse engineering effort for hdaps, that would probably help. > thinkpad_acpi: docked into hotplug port replicator > thinkpad_acpi: unknown possible thermal alarm or keyboard event received > thinkpad_acpi: unhandled HKEY event 0x6040 > thinkpad_acpi: please report the conditions when this event happened > to ibm-acpi-devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > thinkpad_acpi: EC reports that Thermal Table has changed It is just reporting the plugin/out on the replicator, and I don't have a better event for that anyway. Please just igore the 0x6040 alarm. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them. One disk to bring them all and in the darkness grind them.
