Some X61s have a second fan:

There are stories of people ordering the second fan and installing it
to make the palm rest cooler, but apparently according to the forums,
the power connector and mounting points only exist on the X61s. I
tried seeing if I could order the second fan to see how much it costs,
but the Lenovo parts web site didn't recognize the FRU (42X3806).
