I got the following BUG message when offlining a cpu with 2.6.10-rc2-mm4-mhp3 on a ia32 system: echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online I'm not sure what would be most helpful to relay so I'll copy what showed up in /var/log/messages and let me know what else I should provide.
